I
volunteer backstage at Raleigh
Little Theatre, building props, running lights and sound, or whatever. RLT
is a very friendly place to get involved with community theater, and is always
ready to welcome new volunteers.
I
enjoy taking large pieces of wood and making small pieces of wood out of them.
In particular, I enjoy turning bowls on the lathe. I'm a member of the Triangle
Woodturners of NC. Please visit their web site for information on turning
and lots of pictures of beautiful objects (none of which were made by me). Here
are 3 small items that I did make.
I also have a lot of fun dabbling with 2-dimensional art. Playing around with Fauve Matisse and a Wacom ArtPad is a good way to draw things on the PC. Too bad I have no discernable talent.
I wish I could paint like Duerer.
Asian-style brush painting with ink and watercolor (Sumi-e) is even more fun. If I ever do anything worthwhile, I'll scan it in.
